Samuel D. Usle | Urbanist, Entertainment Designer & Illustrator

About

My name is Sam Usle, I am a young former Creative Disney Imagineer, with an academic & professional background in Architecture & Urbanism. I grew up around the Theme Park industry, and  I have lived around the world from Japan to California & Italy. In doing so, I developed a passion for beautiful urban space & placemaking. By working professionally as a designer & illustrator in the Theme Park, Urban Planning & Architectural professions, I have aggregated a set of skills that cross-pollinates across these industries & more.  I visualize design with both traditional and digital mediums, using digital tools for their accuracy & hand drawing for its irreplaceable connection to the human mind.

I founded Studio REDCAR LLC to assist visionaries in the design & visualization of their creative projects. However, it is currently being used to pursue my own private projects, and is no longer a consulting LLC.

I currently work for Michael Watkins Architect in Maryland, putting my passion for Urban Design into practice. MWA consults on town planning across the United States and the globe. For more info on my new team, please visit: https://www.michaelwatkinsarchitect.com/

The name “REDCAR” comes from the famous Pacific Electric streetcars (lovingly called ”red cars”) that used to crisscross Los-Angeles, Hollywood, and my hometown in the early 20th Century.  I chose the name because I am looking to connect my background in Hollywood set design with a rigorous study of real & healthy urbanism, the likes of which I was first introduced to in my childhood town square growing up.
